Pipeline Firm Behind Spill
Faces Stiff Fine for Earlier Accident
Plains All American Pipeline LP, the firm whose pipeline spewed 21,000 gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico on Sunday, faces stiff fines for a previous accident.
Just three weeks ago, the company filed an 8-K document with the SEC, acknowledging that it could be penalized from $100,000 up to $3.7 million by the EPA for a pipeline rupture that spilled 126,000 gallons of crude oil down a hillside into Pyramid Lake in Los Angeles County last year.
