- The SEC puts a muzzle on Gary Aguirre, the former investigator allegedly fired for probing John Mack, the politically connected CEO of Morgan Stanley.

- Rob Norland, Newsweek’s former Baghdad bureau chief, claims that the U.S. military has been censoring reporters embedded in Iraq: “Before a journalist is allowed to go on an embed now, [the military] check[s] the work you have done previously. If they don’t like what you have done before, they refuse to take you.” (Foreign Policy)

- Due to the high cost of the Iraq war, Army posts around the world are short $530 million in funds, leaving some “unable to pay utility bills or even cut the grass.” (Associated Press)
