Mollohan’s Trip to Spain Funded
By ‘Earmarked’ Government Contractors
Democratic Congressman Alan Mollohan’s trip to Spain was paid for by a group of government contractors who received millions of dollars in earmarks, reports Roll Call (through Raw Story).
The trip was paid for by the West Virginia High Technology Consortium Foundation, a nonprofit organization Mollohan created back in 1990. The group has received more than $30 million in federal funds through the congressman’s efforts.
Mollohan’s ethical problems also involve his joint purchase of a farm with the CEO of a company that received a $2.1 million government contract through an earmark inserted by the congressman.
